Cute Cupcakes

Check out these cute cupcakes. (And a description of how to make them.) Sharks and ladybugs and sunflowers, oh my! I am obsessed with making them. I think I might have a new consuming hobby or a problem.

Tara, again I am so jealous. I love the creativity. I think I am creative when I make a dinner that doesn't consist of nooking it in the microwave. I do have to give myself credit on her great 1st birthday polk-a-dot party in March. That was the most creative that I have been. Check it out on my blog at www.gomesincali.blogspot.com. How did I do?

Where's the pics?

very cool. How long did it take you to do those? You must have all the frosting tools for such detailing.

I'm a dork. I just realized how to view the pics after realizing Amber was able to view them. Very very cute. The shark is very impressive.

They didn't take that long. A single shark took me about 10 minutes to decorate, so not including the baking of the cupcake and freezing time, but including the cutting of the components and frosting and sticking stuff together. I guess I spread it out a little at a time over a couple days.

I actually used Ziploc bags with a corner cut off instead of my usual cake decoration metal tips. The flowers and ladybugs took me about 20 minutes to decorate all of them. I took a lot of shortcuts by using canned frosting, Ziplocs, and cake and brownie mixes. That is a cheap way to do it as well. The store brand of frosting costs $1.29 a can. I think I am going to start making my own cake and brownie mixes so I can make cupcakes without butter whenever I want. I never seem to have butter in the house when I need it for baking.

Lisa, I thought your whole decorating scheme was so cute, very Martha--pretty and classic and fun without being too busy. And the cakes were adorable! You are very creative. And you probably don't neglect your housework to make cupcakes like I did this week;)

The preschool asked me to do farm animal cupcakes for the end of the year program. I am so excited. I think I am going to do a few of each of these: horses, cows, pigs, turkeys, chickens (with chicks made from mini cupcakes, I know, so cute!) and sheep.
