Party ideas

Kendall wants a rainbow birthday party and I'm looking for ideas. I'm going to make cupcakes with rainbow colored m&ms on them and that's about as far as I've gotten.

I don't know if you want to make her a rainbow dress but at Walmart they have some fabric that is rainbowish with the top half stretchy smocked so you would only have to sew one straight line up the back and add some ribbon for straps. She already has the tutu you made her, but I was thinking of making a rainbow one for Emma for her birthday next month by using all different colors of tulle.

Play the songs somewhere over the rainbow and rainbow connection while they do freeze dance or musical clouds or musical colors (cut shapes out of felt or foam). Have you ever made rainbow jell-o? You mix up a batch of red first and wait until it is firm, then mix up the orange and when cool enough, pour it on top, etc., with all the colors and then turn it out on a plate. Oh I guess start with purple and go backwards. You could also do this in individual clear cups instead for convenience. It turns out looking just awesome.

Have all the kids work together to make a rainbow on your driveway (weather permitting) with colored chalk. Make fruit loop necklaces. Rainbow kebabs: using plastic drinking straw as skewer put watermelon ball or strawberry, cantaloupe, pineapple, kiwi, blueberry and plum on straws and serve. Make punch with 7-up, pineapple juice and rainbow sherbet.

For the grown ups, put tons of skittles or other rainbow colored candy in jar and have them guess how many to win the jar or another prize (like a copy of the wizard of oz book or dvd). You can buy a rainbow piƱata and fill it with mini bubbles, mini spiral rainbow lollipops or just different colors of the rainbow candy and toys and stickers.

If you are trying to search this topic online "rainbow party" you are going to come across some disgusting teen party so be careful.

You should so get paid for your mad skillz, Tara.

I love your ideas and think the party will be really cute. I was thinking of doing a rainbow tutu also and think it'd be adorable. And the sidewalk chalk would be great at the end to kind of take up the rest of the time before parents came and to be outside. It's been really nice and I'm sure the kids would love it.

And I saw the rainbow party stuff. So gross. Bleh!

Do you remember Rainbow Brite! You're party is probably over, but I love rainbow brite & all her sprites!
