Fingerpaint Wall Art

I saw this on Tutus & Turtles and I think it would be so fun and cute. I think I'll try it when I actually have a home to decorate.

I'm so doing that. I have some canvases that Kendall painted and they're very cute but messy looking too. I think I'll put those in her bedroom and then do some like that for the playroom. Big ones though. I wonder if I could get Gage to walk across one and leave his little footprints behind.

I love this idea! When I convert her little room into her big girl room, I am decorating it in pink and brown and that would be perfect for wall decorations. Thanks! Brilliant!
Kirst,
Gage would love to get his feet all painted across one of those. I think it would be an idea to do a family one as well all hands and feet on a canvas, cute!

We recently took the ugly wallpaper down in a bathroom to paint it non-ugly, but the wall was looking really bare, so I thought of this very idea to decorate our bathroom. And I thought I was thinking of something original!

Wooden-framed canvases can sometimes be pricey, and if you had a baby walk on it, it would stretch the fabric through the spaces of the frame. But my mom (the artist) glues canvas material to sheets of styrofoam. It's really lightweight, you can cut it with a knife (in any shape), the material doesn't stretch when you paint it (or walk on it), and you can velco it to the wall, which is so much easier than nailing. I think it's a better alternative, and not only because it's cheaper (although that would be enough for me). It has more creative possibilities than traditional canvases.

I wrote another comment before but it didn't show up.

What kind of styrofoam do you use and where do you get the material? I'd much rather do it that way.

I'm SO going to do this. I don't have any place for it but it'll be fun. Sevrie LOVES making hand prints, Coral not so much. We'll see though. You could do all sorts of designs too.

I think you can get sheets of hard styrofoam at any craft store, like Michael's (or Robert's for Utahans). You can get it in varying thicknesses, but anything over one inch is going to be more difficult to saw through. And the canvas is just canvas, like you'd get at JoAnn's. I've never done it before, but you can call my mom for help.

This might be a silly question but do you do the handprint after you've painted the canvas?
