I'm having a little birthday party for my to-be 4 yr old and the theme is St. Patricks Day, hence her Birthday IS on St. Patricks Day. Do any of you have some fun and interesting ideas for food and decorations?
Have you done a party before where everything was green? The party favors, cake, ice cream, etc.,? Everyone could come dressed in green. Or you could do a rainbow theme. There could be a pot full of gold coins (chocolate) hidden somewhere and they could go on a treasure hunt to find it. Pin the shamrock in the leprechaun's hand (pin the tail on the donkey). There is a darling cookbook at the check stand at the grocery store right now that is all St. Patrick's Day theme food. It has really cute cookies on the front. You could do a cupcake cake where you make the cupcakes and place them together to make a shamrock shape, then frost the entire top to make it look like one cake rather than cupcakes, but then later after you sing happy birthday and want to eat it you just pull the cupcakes apart and there is not cutting required. I wish I was there, I would totally make the cake. I love that stuff.
I was thinking a shamrock cupcake cake as well. I think (to make it easier) that you could do normal food but have the favors, treats, games, etc with the St. Patrick's Day theme. I think you can't go wrong with Pin the "something" on the "something" for a game. Also pinatas are always fun. Tara's idea for chocolate coins is great (maybe for your party favors). Check this link out http://www.amazingmoms.com/htm/holiday_pat.htm They have party ideas and the handprint rainbow looks cute. Sevrie could hang it in her room after the party.
Wow!!! Those were some great ideas. Thanks guys! I think I will do the coin hunt. How fun! The cupcake idea is good too. Yes Tara, I do wish you were here so You good make the cake. You're great at that stuff. In fact, I wish all Sevrie's cousins were going to be here to celebrate with her. Why can't we just all live by eachother????

I agree, Stephanie! Why can't we all live near each other? I keep talking about the McKinney compound! And when I say McKinney compound... that includes the Oberts and Andersons!
I don't have an all green outfit, but I did get her this shirt at Old Navy because it was only 4 dollars. She has clover sunglasses, a clover headband, and a giant clover beaded necklace. I'm sure she'll wear them for a whole 2 minutes.

I saw a bunch of St. Patrick's day party stuff at Target today.
Yeah I saw a bunch of stuff at the craft store and the party supply store. It'll be so cute. Is Sevrie going to wear a green outfit?

As long as she wears it long enough to get a picture!
