Working out
I don't know about all of you, but I find it hard to stay committed to exercising on a regular basis. It's usually the first thing I give up when I'm short on time, or energy. And being sick for the past month hasn't helped. The only working out I've been doing is coughing. It really has worked my abs out, but I have a soft layer covering any muscle that might be developing. So what do you gals do to stick with it? How do you stay motivated? What are your favorite activities to stay in shape?

I'm sorry that you're sick. It's no fun taking care of children when all you want to do is stay in bed. Right now since it's so cold in Utah I've been trying to work out at home when the kids are in bed. I'm into the video Slim in 6 weeks. She really works the arms and lower part of the body...which I need. My size 4 jeans makes me motivated right now cause I want to get rid of this baby chub! Try putting pictures of toned women with their heads cut off where you would see them on a regular basis. Like the inside of the pantry or on your mirror just reminding you of your goals. But I say when you're sick you can take a break! Oh yeah and you don't have soft layering around your muscles katy....skinny mini...
O.K.....I just wrote you a long and motivating speech but it didn't go through. ARGH!!! Sevrie is sitting here tugging on my shirt to read to her so here is my condensed version.
After the first of the year, Aaron and I made some major lifestyle changes.......to eat healthier and to exercise. I have been committed to both. Aaron has had some health problems and it's hard to say it's not due to the fact we weren't eating right nor were we excercising. Also, when I go to the gym, I get a brake from my girls (they go in the daycare). That's enough in itself to make a person want to go to the gym. When I'm pulling my hair out I say, "Off to the gym"!
And besides the physical changes, working out just makes me a happier person. I think the only reason Aaron and I are still getting along in this crazy and stressful situation we're in, is due to me exercising. I can definitely deal with more stress when I'm working out.
It's hard when you're sick though. Sometimes you just need to let your body rest and heal. Don't they say the best thing for a cold is to rest and NOT excercise?
As far as more motivating advice, do you have a workout partner? Starla (my sis) and I go sometimes together and we ALWAYS get a better workout. We aren't as bored and we seem to work out harder and longer.
So there you go skinny. Now I'm off to have some icecream! Just kidding, but that does actually sound really good.
I feel the same as Stephanie, working out just makes me a much happier person, and gives me so much more energy. I have to make it a priority or it doesn't happen! I have to plan it into the day, whether it is at 6:00 am or 10:00 pm. I can't just sit around and hope that I will find time through out the day. I also recommend taking aerobics, kickboxing, or toning classes. If I have paid for something or signed up for something I am much more likely to go. Lucky for you Katy, you have a darling figure and always are just a little skinny minnie!!!
If you can afford it a personal trainer is absolutely worth it. You will get in shape faster when you have someone to answer to other than yourself. I've learned that doing the Biggest Loser at a local gym. I wish I could afford a trainer all the time. It is great. But if you can't, then I recommend a gym membership with daycare included (if your kids will go.) I hate actually packing up and driving to the gym, but I find if I leave myself to work out at home I just get distracted by other things I have to do.
I agree with all of you. Working out makes me feel better too. We are currently in between gym memberships, but hopefully we'll be back to one soon. And it for sure has to have a daycare or I would never go. I have tried a few home-workout videos. Julie, the Slim in 6 kicks my butt! I have the Burn it Up (or something like that) and it is pretty intense.
Katy- I didn't read the comments above but my philosophy is that when I am prego just eat it up and enjoy life! Love, Nat
